Weave Training Program
Weave offers an ongoing training program for the Soundpainting language and Deep Listening practice as they are applied in Weave. Training through Weave involves the levels of mastery outlined below. Each level requires enrolling in the training program, full participation in that level of the training program, and passing a final performance evaluation. Participants are not required to complete all levels of the training program. Training weeks will be scheduled each summer. Training can also be completed or enhanced through private lessons throughout the year.
Currently there are monthly weekend training sessions being held in upstate New York, and an annual summer retreat. Contact Weave for more information.
Level One: Basic Language
Level One provides beginners with a solid foundation in Soundpainting. Participants are taught the basic gestures of the language. This includes an introduction to the categories of gestures and syntax of the language. The Deep Listening practice is introduced as a method for developing personal sound awareness.
Level Two: Extended Language
Participants are taught more advanced gestures in Level Two. These new gestures enrich the categories of gestures learned in Level One, and advanced combinations of gestures are also introduced. Deep Listening practice is expanded to develop awareness and relationship amongst the ensemble.
Level Three: Multidisciplinary Language and Palettes
Participants learn ways of combining various artistic disciplines and palettes in Level Three. We begin applying Soundpainting gestures to artistic disciplines including music, theater, dance, and visual art. Participants are also taught about incorporating palettes, which are segments of pre-composed material. Deep Listening is applied to approaches to composition and multidisciplinary interaction.
Apprenticeship Program
Once all three levels have been completed, the participant may apply to become an apprentice with Weave.
